For a guy who was picked in the seventh round of the 2011 draft, Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith has had an incredible season. Not only did his team beat the Denver Broncos Sunday night at Super Bowl XLVIII, but it was all topped off with Smith winning the MVP award. However, one more memory was added when a 9/11 truther crashed Smith’s post-game comments.
Smith made several big plays last night, including an interception for a 69-yard return that put the Seahawks up 21-0.
“You dream of winning the Super Bowl,” Smith said after Sunday’s 43-8 blowout. “But MVP? No. You put in the work and hope it’s enough. But, recently, you appreciate every opportunity that comes to you.”
In a bizarre moment during Smith’s post-game presser, a man rushed to the mic and told the public to look into the 9/11 terrorist attacks. “Investigate 9/11. 9/11 was perpetrated by people within our own government,” the 9/11 truther proclaimed before leaving the area. He was later arrested for trespassing. Watch the weird moment below.
The man was later identified as Matthew Mills, a 30-year-old independent journalist from Brooklyn. He told NJ.com just how easy it was to sneak into the Super Bowl.
“I didn’t think that I’d get that far,” Mill said. “I just kept getting closer and closer. Once I got past the final gate and into the stadium, I was dumbfounded. I just saw my opportunity to get my word out there and I took it,”
It’s a little unnerving to know how easy it was for Mills to get inside MetLife Stadium, especially with all the money spent on security. Thankfully Malcolm Smith or anyone else wasn’t hurt.
