Can the Detroit Lions win the NFC North? That is the big question.
My opinion: yes, they can.
Here’s the caveat: they can as long as they believe they can.
This year’s team is talented enough to win the North, but they have to consistently make the right plays, be in the right position and have the right amount of swagger and confidence to believe that they belong at the top.
Most of the time we look at football as being a physical game, but the mental part is what ultimately makes or breaks a football club.
A huge part of establishing that will be handedly beating the Minnesota Vikings — a division opponent and that also looks to compete for the NFC North title — on Sunday.
The Lions need to make a statement.
That would not only build morale within the locker room, but it would mean a lot to the franchise as a whole in renewing fan faith in the organization.
A win would also reassure the management team in their ability to take this team beyond simply being competitive to being a championship-caliber football team.
The Lions definitely have the ability to make that statement and there is no better place to do so than at Ford Field in front of a sellout crowd.
